An Efficient Process

Your power is out and that matters to us.

A strong storm or hurricane can cause significant damage, resulting in widespread power outages. To report a power outage, call 544-3100 (Emergencies) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. GEBE has the best-trained storm restoration teams, and we're working hard to make the inconvenience to you as short-lived as possible.

Safety is our first concern.

We care about your safety, so if you see a downed line, assume it is energized and stay away, then call 544-3100 to report it. Please keep children away from flooded areas after a storm, as the water could be hiding an energized line.

We also care about the safety of our employees. We do not ask them to make repairs when conditions are unsafe or the damaged area is dangerous due to flooding or inaccessibility. In the event of such extreme situations, we ask for your patience and understanding until we can restore power in a safe manner.

Skilled employees, dedicated to quickly restore your power.

Our crews are specially trained technicians whose primary job after a storm is to repair damage and restore power. We position both repair crews and supplies near areas with the greatest damage to speed restoration and to reduce response time.

An efficient process determines restoration priorities.

We have developed an efficient, highly organized process that helps u prioritize our restoration efforts and return power to the facilities that serve the largest number of affected customers first.

Priorities are not established by where your home is located geographically, your payment history or how often you call. Crews receive their instructions based upon repairs that will restore power to the largest number of customers first. Sometimes a crew may actually have to leave your area to restore your power because the damage is between the source of power and your area.

  1. First we repair damage to the GEBE facilities that produce power and the lines that carry it from our plant.

  2. Then we focus on restoring power to the customers who provide essential services to your community, such as hospitals, police, fire stations and television or radio stations.

  3. Next, we repair damage that will return power to the greatest number of customers in the least amount of time.

  4. Once major repairs have been made, we begin working to restore small groups and individual customers.
