• Check the Storm Links section of this website for a number of weather websites and your local Disaster Management Office.
• Find out if you are in an evacuation zone. If you are, decide where you will go if you need to evacuate, a relative’s house, a friend’s house or perhaps a hotel.

Secure Your Home

• Prune trees around your house and in your yard. Cut branches that may be too close to power lines.
• Remove any debris or loose lying items that can become airborne during a storm.
• Inspect your hurricane shutters and make any necessary repairs. If you do not have hurricane shutters, now is the time to learn more about protecting your home.
• Buy, cut and prepare plywood for installation to protect windows and glass doors, and wood to brace double-entry garage doors at the top and bottom.
