February 24, 2010

CAY BAY–The Cay Bay Power Plant is experiencing technical difficulties with one of the larger Diesel Engine #12, with a capacity of 8 MW, after a fuel leak caused an emergency shut down to prevent possible fire from erupting. The machine will be brought back online as soon as the fuel leak has been found and repaired.

The following areas are currently without power:
Belverdere, Oyster Pond, Westin Hotel area, Orange Grove, Almond Grove, Colebay lagoon area, St. Peters, Reward, Ebenezer, Betty’s Estate, Saunders, Mary’s Fancy, Cay Hill, Brouwers Road, Red Roses rd area

GEBE would like to apologize to the general public for the inconvenience and will restore electricity as soon the engines are safe to operate. Updates will be posted as the information becomes available.
