Conserve Electricity and Save Some Green with NV GEBE

Conserve Electricity

The easiest way to reduce energy is to use the free energy around you such as sun and wind. Install a skylight for more natural light. Lines dry your clothes. When these options are not possible, and you have to use electrical energy, use these 7 simple actions to reduce the amount of energy you consume. Saving energy will not only save you money on your electric bill due to constantly rising prices of oil, but it will also help to save the environment and reduce emissions that are causing global warming. Here are 3 simple actions you can take:

1. Use Less Air Conditioning

In a typical home, the air conditioner uses more electricity than any other appliance. You can save by setting your air conditioner on a timer and by turning up your thermostat by 2 degrees. By using a fan to circulate the cool air, you can turn off the air conditioner once the room is cool to save even more.

2. Buy Energy-Efficient Products

When it’s time to buy a new air conditioner, refrigerator, dryer or other major appliance, choose an energy efficient model. These large appliances use the most of your electricity and newer energy efficient models can use up to 50% less energy than similar models made 10 years ago. Look for the Energy Star and Energy Guide labels to help you choose the most efficient model for your household.

3. Maximize the Use of Your Electricity

Wash, dry and use your dishwasher with full loads. Look for a dryer with a moisture sensor and clean the lint filter every time to avoid over drying your clothes. This will also save your clothes. Dry multiple loads right after each other to make the most of the heat already generated. Defrost your freezer to avoid it working harder to keep the freezer at a cold temperature.

Conserve Water
Don’t overfill the kettle when making a cup of tea or the pot when cooking. Only fill and boil what you need, this will save you money on your energy costs too.
